GrownUps is a New Zealand lifestyle website and social club for over 50 year olds. It is a free website, that has been operating successfully for 10 years and is maintained via advertising and sponsorship.

GrownUps has one of the highest percentages of people aged 50+ of any website in New Zealand, offering 5000+ lifestyle articles of interest from travel, health, family, life, sports, pets to name a few, as well as games, competitions, discussions and provides a meeting place for like-minded people keen to make the most of time and money, whether via trusted and useful information from the brands on the site.

Job Purpose/Objective

Reporting to the Head of Sales – GrownUps, the purpose of the Senior Sales Executive is to achieve revenue targets by identifying and gaining business from new and existing advertising agency clients and ensuring complete client satisfaction when dealing with GrownUps.

Key Responsibilities

• Proactively grow advertising agency sales and achieve or exceed revenue targets.

• Work closely with new and existing clients to determine their present and future needs, including creating the need and developing the advertising concept, and present concepts and solutions to generate sales.

• Maintain productive client relationships and act as the main interface between the client and GrownUps to ensure an optimal level of service is provided at all times.

• Demonstrate an understanding of the customer’s objectives, buying criteria and decision making processes and form long term business partnerships in order to leverage revenue from the relationship and grow the account.

• Promote GrownUps as a quality supplier with the aim of achieving “preferred” supplier status.

• Liaise with Technical Support staff regarding technical issues to ensure client retention and continued business.

• Identify and gain new business through networks and a sustained programme of cold calling, mailing and following up referrals/leads and keeping abreast of competitor’s Sales strategies.

• Coordinate the preparation of sales proposals, tenders/bids, contracts and Account Management plans.

• Always work in a safe manner and encourage others to do the same. Avoid placing yourself or others at risk, and follow all health and safety procedures and instructions at all times, including reporting hazards, incidents and accidents, and participating in health and safety initiatives and rehabilitation programmes as required.

Relationships

• Internal contacts: Head of Sales, General Manager, Sales Support staff, Marketing staff, Technical Support.

• External contacts: Advertising Agencies, Suppliers.

Freedom to Act and Decision Making 

• The Senior Sales Executive is able to act freely within approved and established guidelines whilst keeping management appropriately informed of significant issues which impact GrownUps.

• Matters which fall outside the established guidelines are referred to the Head of Sales – GrownUps consistent with our “no surprises” philosophy.

• The Senior Sales Executive is expected to generate innovative ideas and solutions to create business opportunities and improve processes.

Person Specification

• Seasoned sales professional (5-8 years +) with agency selling experience.

• May possess relevant tertiary qualifications.

• Digital experience preferred.

• Strong achievement orientation and proactivity, with proven selling ability including outstanding negotiation skills, persuasive ability and excellent communication skills.

• Well-networked with sound relationship management skills and the ability to deal with clients at all levels.

• Ability to create marketing/advertising concepts and translate customer needs into a complete solution.
