About Tulip and Sprout

Another Spud-tacular adventure, Tulip and Sprout is a delightful tale about friendship and being different.

Tulip and Max were famous at their school, for two reasons:
1. They were fearless adventurers.
2. They went everywhere with a curiously quirky companion – a rock called Susan!

Tulip, Max and Susan loved creating coded messages, unearthing precious treasures and practising their hide-and-seek skills on Tunnel Mountain. When Max and Susan head away on holiday, Tulip and her dad go on an expedition to the jungle. What will Tulip discover there … could it be her lost friend Doug?

The heartwarming sequel to Tulip and Doug: Friends for (almost) ever, which became famous when NZ’s Prime Minister gifted the book to Prince William, saying it was one of her favourite children’s books.

Emma Wood writes quirky, humorous stories for children – partly because she doesn’t feel like a proper grown-up yet, but also because children are the best people on the planet. She is a former broadcast journalist who also works in communications and reviews the latest children’s books for the Otago Daily Times. She lives with her family in Dunedin, and enjoys the arts, splashing around in the sea, talking, eating and travelling.

Carla Martell is an illustrator and designer from Auckland. She specialises in whimsical illustration featuring children, animals and curious characters, hand-lettering and surface pattern design. Carla’s other titles for Scholastic are Tulip and Doug, Christmas in Summer, Granny’s Undies and Duck Goes Meow.
