The Gold Coast; Australia’s theme park capital – as a quick family getaway, it is tons of fun!

It is easy to get to, and there is something for everyone – adrenaline, adventure, nature and sunshine. As an active parent or grandparent, you will rediscover the joy of being a kid as you ride a rollercoaster, get close with some wildlife or sit back and enjoy a show.

There are nearly a dozen parks in a small radius, so whether you decide to visit just one as the highlight of a weekend getaway, or make a week of it and explore several, you will not be disappointed.

The climate on the Gold Coast is balmy, making it a fantastic destination as the days cool down on this side of the ditch.

All the theme parks have been designed to cater for a wide range of tastes, ages and stages. Safety is paramount and there is fun to be had whether you are a full adrenaline junkie, a water baby or a lover of movie trivia and memorabilia.

There are truly amazing opportunities for people-watching in theme parks. The common theme, no matter the shapes, sizes and cultures, are the smiles. They are everywhere – sometimes inspired by wide-eyed wonder, some by wide-eyed terror (at the exit to some of the rides!). It is really neat to see so many families and friends, in all their forms, having fun together.
