A ten minute drive from Greerton, Tauranga, will take you up the Kaimais onto SH29 to one of the Bay of Plenty’s iconic treasures – McLaren Falls Park.
"Lonely Planet" travellers rate McLaren Falls Park as 9/58 on their "things to do" in their Tauranga list.
The Park is free to enter and offers a variety of activities for all ages – from kayaking, fishing and bush walks to picnics and camping.
Thanks to the hard working Tree Society volunteers, there are some magnificent mature trees spread over 190 hectares of parkland. This is a photographer’s paradise, particularly in autumn.
Dogs are not permitted as there are sheep grazing throughout the Park.
There is a waterfall beside one of the walking tracks and kayak tours can be booked to view glow worms.
A newly opened visitor’s centre has interesting information panels and photographs gathered over many years, relating to all aspects of the Park.
