The Best Three Words of Support

beliefTough times. We’ve all had them, and chances are, in this crazy roller coaster world, there will still be challenges we face along the way.

Positivity and optimism are wonderful, but sometimes in the thick of turmoil, they are hard to find. If you have a friend or loved one in this situation, three small words may help them feel supported and understood, even if you are unsure of what to do to ease their pain, or how to guide them.

I believe you.

Believing someone means that you don’t have to necessarily agree or empathise, but you are allowing them to have their own experience, in their own time. Believing them means hey don’t have to waste energy justifying themselves. Belief and a great hug can be enough to change someone’s attitude from ‘the whole world is against me and no-one understands me’ to ‘thank goodness, I am not alone.’

Try it and see. We often tend to want to fix things and make them all better, fast. But sometimes, it's better to allow your loved ones the space to heal themselves, in a supportive environment. It is far more constructive to work through an issue and resolve it, than to have someone race in and put a bandaid on it and tell you not to worry.

Belief is a powerful thing. Share yours today.
