Fun fact: Why are bananas are curved?

banana

bananaHave you ever wondered what gives bananas their distinctive, curved shape?

It’s because of a gravity-defying process called negative geotropism. Bananas start off growing towards the ground, but once they get bigger, they begin to grow towards the sun. In their natural environment in rainforests, only a small amount of sunlight reaches banana plants, so growing upwards maximises their sunlight exposure.
