"Those who love both cars and Bond films are in for a special treat with this excellent documentary" The Australian

No action hero in cinema history is as well known for his cars as James Bond. Alongside the gadgets, the girls and the baddies, Bond's cars are one of the vital ingredients that have made the films such a spectacular success, and in this entertaining Top Gear special, Richard Hammond celebrates 50 years of Bond's greatest cars.

Richard tells the story behind the Aston Martins and the Lotus Esprit; unarguably the seminal Bond cars. He also gets behind the wheel of the original DB5, complete with gadgets, the Lotus Esprit S1 and some of the lesser known Bond cars such as the beautiful and rare Toyota 2000GT, Blower Bentley, and the not so beautiful Citroen 2CV, and the AMC Hornet.

Furthermore Richard talks to Bond actors Sir Roger Moore and Daniel Craig, producer Michael G Wilson, and legendary directors Guy Hamilton and Vic Armstrong revealing the stories behind some of the most important and memorable action sequences on film.

Inspired by some of the greatest gadgets, Richard gets in on the action to build his own "Bond Car on a Budget". These include Richard's recession hit take on the Die Another Day invisible Aston Martin Vanquish, and doing something even the Bond film-makers themselves could never achieve; build a working underwater submarine Lotus sports car.

Bringing the Bond story right up to date, Richard travels to the Skyfall set in Turkey and reports on the dramatic car chase sequences in the new film, talking to Daniel Craig about his training sessions on the Top Gear track with the former Stig, and finds out from Ola Rapace what it's really like being a Bond Baddie.

In taking to the rooftops of Istanbul with motocross legend Robbie Maddison, Richard learns that along with the glamour, there are a lot of bumps and bruises involved when you are a James Bond double in an epic action sequence.
