Caughey Preston was opened in 1953 and over the last 56 years it has forged a reputation as one of the finest care facilities for the elderly in the Auckland region. We are not a retirement village. Our entire focus is on caring for older folk at a time when they need it the most.

As a non-profit organisation Caughey Preston’s prime objective is to deliver care that is second to none, in an environment where residents and their families are our key focus.

Uncompromising in our standards we provide a safe and pleasant environment for residents to enjoy their latter years with comfort, safety, dignity and respect.

Residents at Caughey Preston are provided with total freedom to spend time with family and friends and take great comfort in the knowledge that professional staff are available to assist when required.

Our Facilities

Caughey Preston is situated in the heart of Remuera and provides residents with a beautiful environment, extensive lawns, detailed gardens and established trees.

Residents like to spend time in the gardens and can often be found enjoying the beautiful surroundings with friends or family on warm summer afternoons.

The location provides easy access to Remuera Village and Upland Road shops. Access to the motorway is a five minute drive away.

Situated in 8.5 acres of park like grounds Caughey Preston provides a complete range of aged care incorporating Rest Home, Hospital and Dementia Care levels.

Upland Home, at 17 Upland Road, is home to 53 Rest Home residents and 10 Hospital residents. Upland Home was the first of our facilities built on site in 1950 and has an atmosphere of warmth and congeniality with a variety of room styles.

Caughey Preston Hospital, at 25 Ventnor Road, is home to 78 Hospital residents. Our Hospital was constructed in 1964 and is quiet, light and airy with large lounge areas, a combination of single and shared rooms and ample parking.

Ventnor Home, at 21 Ventnor Road, is home to 43 Rest Home residents and 12 Hospital residents. Ventnor Home was constructed in 1972 and provides high quality accommodation in a tranquil garden setting.

Marianne Court, is adjacent to Ventnor Home at 21 Ventnor Road. The unit was constructed in 1996 and has single rooms and large central living areas which open out into a spectacular secure garden, complete with sheltered seating areas where clients and their families can share special time together. This is Auckland’s only specialised dementia care unit for ladies.
