Re-discover Queenstown with Millennium & Copthorne Hotels.
When our northern hemisphere friends or relatives arrive on their first visit to New Zealand, no matter how short or long their stay, they're made to pack up and head to Queenstown for a few days. A fervent believer in the old adage, "see your own country first…", so too should visitors not be allowed to depart our shores until they've seen the southern region. Accompanying them as local guide is not compulsory, but it's often beneficial and rewarding for both parties!
If you don't have any international visitors arriving soon or haven't been to Queenstown for a while, maybe it's time to re-discover this magnificent part of our world.
We are surely spoilt for the most breathtaking scenery, but you'd also be hard placed to find too many locations worldwide that could offer the array of activities and things to see and do – all year round. Some of my personal favourites, in no particular order, include;
Walking and Biking
Discover the newly opened Queenstown Trail. Bike ride, walk or cycle tour some of the most unspoilt and iconic landscapes throughout greater Queenstown.
Ski-ing or Snow Boarding
Choose from four very different ski fields within easy driving distance or coach from Queenstown. Or join in with the pre-season celebrations at the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival (21-30 June 2013), now in its 39th year.
Vineyards and Wineries
Life's too short to drink bad wine. Fortunately you'll only find the best here in Queenstown. Take a tour of the local wineries or appoint a sober driver and drive yourself. Take care on the road to Chard Farm which is as exhilarating as the wine tasting.
Art and Craft Galleries
Arts and crafts lovers will have a field day with so many galleries, shops and studios featuring local artists including photographers, painters, musicians, jewellery makers to name a few.
Golfing
World class courses where playing to your handicap is secondary to the spectacular scenery and southern golfing experience. Jack's Point, Millbrook, Queenstown Golf Club, Arrowtown… I could go on.
Spoilt for Accommodation too!
You are really spoilt for choice with Millennium and Copthorne Hotel's three great locations, all within easy walking distance of Queenstown centre and offering magnificent views of Lake Wakatipu and the mountains. Bed and breakfast packages for two are available now for just $129 per night.
