Laughing heartily for ten minutes a day is the simplest, easiest way of becoming disease free. I know you are all saying - "What? I can't laugh that long every day.

It was my pleasure a wee while ago to run a six week course for the Kapiti Women's Centre in Paraparaumu. We met on a Friday morning for a couple of hours and I had some very enthusiastic participants!

In Laughter Yoga we regularly practise the nonsense language of Gibberish. It is a great way to release tension and inhibitions. To express deeply felt and difficult emotions and like laughter it can be practised anywhere at any time!

In Laughter Yoga we have four elements of Joy that we practise regularly. They are: Laughing, Playing, Singing and Dancing.

We gather together, and we introduce ourselves the Laughter Yoga way, by saying our names and laughing. Then, we simply laugh for no reason for 30 seconds, before we find our mental flosses, which are kept behind our ears.

Countries are often identified in strangers' minds by what's in tourist shops. In New Zealand it's the tiki, the fern the koru and the colour green. For China we think of panda bears, pagodas, ornate fans and everything decked in red and gold.

A few days ago, some people in my laughter class were discussing how they were told to be quiet as children, and that they were not allowed to laugh loudly.

People have often looked at me sideways when they are droopy eyed and flagging whilst I am still bright eyed and bushy tailed and said - "Where do you get your energy from?" I smile, then giggle, and explain that because I laugh heartily every day and br
