Peter McDermott – Sports Columnist

With a keen interest in all sports, Peter is a past (modest) player of cricket, rugby, rugby league, golf and athletics.

Like all good New Zealanders Peter grew up in a culture of sports at home, at school in his social life. A past Chairman of New Zealand Cricket he has experience from Club to International administration including a stint of 5 years on the International Cricket Council.

He has played cricket in New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Canada, England, USA and Ireland. He has a brother who represented Auckland, Manawatu, North Island and New Zealand Universities at rugby and a son who represented Auckland in age group teams in rugby league.

He served for a period as Chairman of Surf Life Saving Bay of Plenty and always strong in opinions has now been persuaded to write articles for a small number of websites.
