Would you eat spicy tomatoes?
Scientists are currently trying to genetically engineer tomatoes to be spicy. This may be possible as tomatoes share genetic ancestry with spicy peppers, like jalapenos.
As well as being an interesting new food option, spicy tomatoes could potentially be efficiently grown for their capsaicinoids, the chemicals which make food taste spicy. Capsaicinoids may have theraputic benefits, such as pain relief.
