Storylines Children’s Literature Charitable Trust Te Whare Waituhi Tamariki o Aotearoa (Storylines) is a national organisation established in 2005 that promotes awareness of the importance of reading and books for all children and young adults, works to ensure children and young adults in New Zealand have access to high quality literature, and supports the writers and illustrators of literature for children and young adults in New Zealand. We aim to inspire children, young adults and their whanau to enjoy the magic of books and reading, especially reading books created for them by New Zealand writers and illustrators. www.storylines.org.nz

Storylines Notable Books

Since 1999 Storylines has produced an annual list of outstanding books for children and young people published by New Zealand authors and illustrators during the previous calendar year.

This annual list of Storylines Notable Books ensures that children, whānau, teachers, librarians and the public are aware of the large range of high-quality New Zealand books being published.

Storylines Notable Books are selected by expert panels in each category. These panels include children’s and YA librarians, authors, illustrators, teachers, academics and whanau; several members have served as judges for the previous New Zealand Book Trust, New Zealand Post and LIANZA Book Awards.

the keepers were ready; the animals, too…’

All of a sudden there’s a commotion – who has unravelled the animals’ stockings? With Santa arriving any moment, the zookeepers call on a champion knitter for a Christmas Eve miracle!
