Chance, a real dog, has been in Dogtown since his owners unwittingly left him with irresponsible dogsitters who skipped town.

Metal Head is a robot dog who dreams of being back in a real home.

And Mouse is a mouse who has the run of Dogtown, pilfering kibble, and performing clever feats to protect the dogs he loves.

Author Bio:

Katherine Applegate is the author of The One and Only Ivan, winner of the Newbery Medal, and more recently Wishtree and Odder. Her books have been widely acclaimed and New York Times bestsellers. She lives in Irvine, California.

Gennifer Choldenko‘s best known Tales from Alcatraz series, has been called ‘A cornerstone series in contemporary children’s literature.’ Al Capone Does My Shirts – the first book in the series – was a Newbery Honor Book and the recipient of twenty other awards. All four books in the series were Junior Library Guild selections and garnered many starred reviews. Gennifer lives in the San Francisco Bay area with her loyal husband and naughty dog.

    1. You must be a GrownUps member and receive our newsletter to be eligible to win.
    2. Competition closes on the 24th January 2024, winners will be notified via email by 25th January 2024.
    3. It is your responsibility to ensure you correctly enter a New Zealand postal address where the prize can be couriered. GrownUps will not take responsibility for prizes sent to incorrect addresses.
    4. Winners are drawn at random by the GrownUps administration team.
    5. GrownUps employees and family are not eligible to enter.
    6. By entering the giveaway, you approve for GrownUps to use your name on social media as winner of the competition.
    7. One entry per household.
    8. Prize is non transferrable.
    9. You must reside in New Zealand – the prize will only be posted within New Zealand.
    10. You must be over 50 years of age to enter, check your details are correct in your membership dashboard.
