Why Not?

why not

why notLife often means being a sensible adult, looking after one’s responsibilities and leaving dreams as dreams until ‘one day.’

This is both admirable and usually essential, but it’s important not to lose sight of dreams, or put them off forever. Left unfulfilled, such dreams can become regrets. Travel is stimulating and mind-opening and fantastic for the soul. If you often daydream about just packing a bag and exploring a new part of the world, it may be time to ask yourself, why not?

Why can’t you take some time out? Are you owed holiday? Can you reschedule commitments? The answer is probably yes.

Is a trip hard to organise? Not necessarily – if the thought or planning a whole itinerary is daunting, investigate the option of group travel. If you are in the position of travelling alone, a group tour is ideal – you are guaranteed to be amongst like-minded people and can choose to socialise as much or as little as you like.

When you have been feeling a little down, or directionless, a break is often just the impetus you need to kick start your personal motivation. Seeing new sights, tasting new foods and experiencing new people is incredibly stimulating. It can serve to remind you how fortunate you are to live as you do, as well as opening your mind to new perspectives.

There is always a bit of fear of the unknown before a trip. Don’t let that put you off. Embrace the possibility of change and the opportunities it affords. That book you may have been dreaming of writing may virtually write itself with the right inspiration. Your relationship may finally get the attention it deserves or you will get that ‘time out’ you have been promising yourself for years.

True, travel costs money. There is no getting around it, but in terms of a personal investment, travelling rarely disappoints! If you need to start saving, make a plan, but if you have money set aside for a rainy day – why not make it today?
