A young woman walks into the doctor’s office, looking distressed.
“Doctor,” she says, “my whole body hurts — everywhere I touch!”
The doctor raises an eyebrow. “That sounds unusual. Show me what you mean.”
She presses her finger to her shoulder and yelps in pain. She touches her knee — another cry of agony. She pokes her ankle, her stomach, even her cheek — and each time, she winces and screams.
The doctor pauses, then gently takes her hand. “I think I’ve found the problem,” he says.
“What is it?” she asks.
“Your finger is broken.”
