Feeling stressed or stuck? Here’s a solution from author/editor Lindsey Dawson
The Answer: How Nature Can Help You When Life
Seems Too Hard is the perfect antidote for those times when it all gets too much.
In these frazzled times, words like ‘natural’, ‘green’ and ‘fresh’ are balm for busy lives. So The Answer is the book for everyone who feels uptight, locked in and stressed out.
All about nature’s power to heal, it is written by Lindsey Dawson, founding editor of four popular New Zealand magazines and the author of six previous books. “We all know it’s good to get out into nature,” she says, “but sometimes we just can’t do it when we need to. The Answer is for when you’re dying for the luscious feeling of sand or grass under your feet but just can’t get there.”
The book reveals how nature whispers (and sometimes shouts!) helpful signals at us – offering a host of clues for bumping up our sense of energy, optimism and faith in the future.
Luscious full-colour images enhance each point in the story line, which will ring me-too bells for everyone who’s ever felt tired, fed up, or stretched so thinly they think they’ll snap.
Lindsey’s team-mate for this project is photographer Trish Whillans. Long-time friends and co-workers, they used to work together on monthly magazines including Next and Grace (Lindsey as editor and Trish as marketing director). They’ve already collaborated on one book, about personality types based on the four elements: The Elemental You: Discover and Delight in Your Primal Personality.
Says Lindsey: “I love modern life’s buzz but I also know that being in the bush or on the beach always has the power to help me any time I feel stressed or anxious. The Answer is a really easy way to access those calming vibes and open up to some powerful messages from the natural world. “
What people are saying:
“Lindsey Dawson has always been in tune with the zeitgeist. Now, when our lives seem so far removed from what is natural and real, she has nailed it once again with this perceptive and clever book. The Answer gives our daily grind a sense of context and inspires us to strive for more.” – Stacy Gregg, editor, runwayreporter.com
“The fact that nature can heal is forgotten by many of us. Let this beautiful book serve as a portal for the natural beauty of our planet. It will restore you and help you remember who you want to be.” – Lauren Artress, San Francisco, author of Walking a Sacred Path.
