Author Note:

‘I Will Make You Passionate About Exercise isn’t a book for fit people, it’s for those who aren’t exercising at all or who are struggling to be consistent with it. It’s understands the problems these people face and gives them a wise plan which is realistic and proven to work. It teaches them the key lessons they need to learn and layers these lessons in an order that sets up a future where regular exercise is a part of their everyday life.

Bad health and fitness is a huge problem in our society. More people are moving less, eating poorly and aren’t looking after their health. The cost at both a personal level and societal level are huge, and something needs to change.

While many people know that change needs to happen, they don’t have the right tools to know how to make it happen. A good example of this is medical professionals telling their patients they need to start exercising but their patients don’t start because they don’t know how to! They get lost.

This isn’t just about people who are working with their doctors, many people don’t exercise at all, or if they do have some level of activity in their life, they struggle to have it as a consistent habit and can’t maintain it for the long term. These people need an achievable plan that they believe is possible, that they can apply to their own life which will lead them to making long term change. We can’t afford to keep letting these people down, the aim of this book is to help change this.’

About the author:

Bevan’s fitness story started when he was 20 years old. After leaving school with no qualifications, getting addicted to drugs and alcohol, and becoming a person that was damaging himself and those around him, Bevan hit his rock bottom. After a horrific drug experience, he decided his life had to change. Exercise was his way out of a life he needed to leave. Within a very short period of time, he had completely moved on from his old life. He quickly became one of the world’s leading fitness instructors, he won awards for his work in the industry, he became an Ironman triathlete, and started New Zealand’s #1 running training business.

However, in 2009, Bevan realised that he was only helping fit people get fitter in his day-to- day work, he wasn’t helping those that struggle or fail with exercise, and this is something he was passionate about. He decided to start a total beginner running programme with the aim of getting absolute beginners moving. This was an eye-opening experience for him, and at first, the programme completely failed because it was too hard. Not being a quitter, Bevan went back to the drawing board and started from scratch. It required a completely different skill set, a new approach, and a whole new philosophy around exercise for beginners. He and his team have now helped thousands of non-exercisers learn to love exercise for the long term, a completely fulfilling and rewarding experience.
