Spring Forward

Narzissen im SonnenscheinToday is the first day of spring – if, like many people, the winter leaves you feeling a bit glum, today is the day to start looking forward again!

Spring is a wonderful season as it is so full of new things – the world seems fresher and brighter and there is a special light in the air. The change in temperature makes it easier to be outside, there is so much to see.

If you are in need of a little inspiration to get the spring back in your step, here are a few ideas:

  • find some spring lambs – those gorgeous wobbly legs and wriggly tails, particularly at play, are about as adorable and spring-like as it gets
  • gather freesias, violets, daffodils or other wild blooms and make your home smell amazing
  • take your children or grandchildren on a walk and teach them the proper scientific names of all the stunning flowers starting to emerge
  • get started on a fitness regime
  • sit and read the newspaper outside with the sun on your face
  • re organise your wardrobe, and dig out all the brighter coloured pieces
  • have all your gardening tools oiled, sharpened and serviced
  • plant salad greens
  • take an elderly relative out for a drive and finish with an ice cream
  • bake a cake and decorate it with edible flowers
  • use nature as an inspiration to paint, draw or create a piece of art
  • take a ‘photo of the day’ each day and share something positive on social media
  • make lists of ideas for Christmas gifts, so you are well prepared
  • clean your BBQ – it’s nearly time to eat outside again
  • invest in a bird feeder for your garden and fill it with seeds
  • open your doors and windows and flood your home with fresh air
  • walk on your nearest beach, barefoot
  • use the change of season as an excuse to call friends or family and tell then you love them
  • get a new haircut
  • fly a kite
  • plan a party
