A Heartwarming Story for Young Children About Welcoming a New Baby into the Family

In this story of cosy and chaotic family life, the imaginative world of a little child is front and centre. Rosie likes to wrap things up: her crayons, her toys, her kitten, a parcel for Granny, some baking, flowers.

Rosie herself is wrapped up in a towel after her bath; her mother wraps up warm when she goes out in the cold, dark night; and Granny wraps Rosie up in her bed when she’s too upset to sleep by herself.

And finally, a brand new baby is all wrapped up in a cuddly blanket.

Wrapping Things is a captivating story designed for children aged 2-6. It invites young readers into a world of warmth and happiness, emphasizing the power of imagination and the richness of a child’s inner life. The delightful repetition of the wrapping theme adds an engaging element that kids will love. With stunning illustrations, Wrapping Things is available in both hardcover and paperback, making it a perfect addition to any child’s bookshelf.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Author Linda Burgess is the author of three novels, three non-fiction titles and one collection of short stories. Her 2019 collection of essays Someone’s Wife was highly acclaimed, including this praise: ‘A work written with brio, Someone’s Wife is hilarious and devastating, a sliver of New Zealand culture and history told through a single vibrant life and its entanglements with others. Slouching towards Aotearoa, perhaps Burgess is our Didion, albeit less aloof, more gregarious and with better jokes.’ Emma Gattey, Landfall. She has won several literary awards and has been a judge for a number of national awards. She lives in Wellington.
