This child’s‐eye perspective on ‘dinosaur’ attitudes to women is a riotous take on feminism, for children aged five and up.

A hilarious story about out‐dated attitudes When Grandma Burnt Her Bra features a feisty Grandma with a sharp social conscience. As Grandma describes archaic ideas about women, the imagination of her enthralled granddaughter takes flight and before we know it the ‘dinosaur’ ideas Grandma describes are transformed into actual dinosaurs, co‐existing with cave people and resulting in mayhem!

This unashamedly feminist text uses humour, history, and the childhood perception of age, and underwear, to broach a tricky subject without casting blame. It tasks us to tackle gender issues as a team, with men and women working together to break down barriers to work towards a future of equal opportunity.

Children will enjoy the riotous illustrations and delight in imagining themselves into all sorts of futures from archaeologists to astronauts!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR AND ILLUSTRATOR

Samantha Tidy seeks out stories that cultivate connection and resilience and that help build community. She believes strongly that books can help us imagine a better world for the next generation to inherit. Samantha’s previous titles include The Day We Built the Bridge (MidnightSun Publishing, 2019) and Cloudspotting (Windy Hollow Books, 2023) among others.

Aśka is an award‐winning visual storyteller, comics maker and science communicator. As a hugely engaging and popular presenter, Aśka is passionate about visual literacy. She has published more than ten books and graphic novels and is a recipient of several grants and fellowships. Aśka’s illustrations are featured in previous EK Books titles My Storee, The Incurable Imagination and This is NOT a Book!
