About I Can Do It!

A rousing new anthem from Suzy Cato and Kath Bee

I don’t have to BE the best, I just need to be MY best! And once I start, I’ll keep on going and encourage all the rest.

From adored children’s entertainer Suzy Cato and award-winning singer Kath Bee, comes a story of affirmation; a story to encourage children to use their imaginations and give things a go.

The story was first written as a song (downloadable) with a simple, catchy tune that is sure to be sung with gusto in school halls and homes around the country!

With imaginative, energetic illustrations by Rose Northey, winner of the Storylines Gavin Bishop Award for new illustrators, this is a timely tale to highlight the importance of perseverance and supporting others.

Suzy Cato is a beloved New Zealand children’s entertainer and TV personality, and is best known as the host of Suzy’s World and You and Me, as well as hosting a YouTube channel, Suzy & Friends. This is the fourth book Suzy has published with Scholastic. Her other titles are The Kauri Family, Christmas in Summer and Going on a Kiwi Holiday. Suzy and her family live in Auckland. Check out her website: www.suzy.co.nz

Kath Bee has written some of New Zealand’s most loved children’s songs including Individuality, Dad I Wanna Be a Camel, Sprinkle A Little Sunshine and most recently the 2022 APRA NZ Best Children’s Song winner, E Tū Tāngata – Stand Together. Kath has toured NZ extensively, performing in Primary Schools, ECCs, Libraries, Teddy Bears’ Picnics, Fairs, Festivals and everywhere in between. I Can Do It! is her first book with Scholastic. Kath lives in Nelson.

Rose Northey is a poet, illustrator and comedian based in Wellington, NZ. Rose was the 2021 winner of the Storylines Gavin Bishop Award, with her storyboard for The Lighthouse Princess. This is Rose’s first picture book with Scholastic. A qualified mechanical engineer, she now works full-time as a Creative. Rose brings a sense of joy and silliness into all of her art forms.
