About Duck Goes Meow

Inspired by a true story from YouTube, this is the perfect read-aloud book with quirky artwork that will charm all ages.

WOOF! says Dog.
MOO! says Cow.
CLUCK! says Hen,

A little yellow duckling is amongst animal friends who are all sure of the sounds they make: hiss, neigh, moo, cheep, cluck and oink. But when Duck goes ‘meow’, the other animals say no, that is wrong, try again … then Duck’s mama arrives, and boy, do they get a surprise!

Juliette MacIver is a widely acclaimed children’s picture book writer and mother of four. Her hilarious trio of stories about Marmaduke Duck (Scholastic) have all been shortlisted for NZ book awards, and That’s Not a Hippopotamus (Gecko) won the 2017 Picture Book award.

Carla Martell is an illustrator and designer from Auckland who specialises in whimsical illustration featuring children, animals and curious characters. Carla has illustrated a number of books with Scholastic including the much-acclaimed Tulip and Doug as well as Christmas in Summer, Granny’s Undies, Colin the Christmas Mince Pie and Why Won’t You Sleep?!

    2. Competition closes on the 9th May 2023, winners will be notified via email by 11th May 2023.
    3. It is your responsibility to ensure you correctly enter a New Zealand postal address where the prize can be couriered. GrownUps will not take responsibility for prizes sent to incorrect addresses.
    4. Winners are drawn at random by the GrownUps administration team.
    5. GrownUps employees and family are not eligible to enter.
    6. By entering the giveaway, you approve for GrownUps to use your name on social media as winner of the competition.
    7. One entry per household.
    8. Prize is non transferrable.
    9. You must reside in New Zealand – the prize will only be posted within New Zealand.
