At Home on the FarmAbout At Home on the Farm

An exploration of life on a New Zealand farm during a long, dry spell from one of New Zealand’s top wildlife authors and illustrators.

Through lyrical rhyming text, readers are taken on a journey across paddocks, barns and treetops, encountering the animals and landscapes that make up the farm’s rich ecosystem. From the circling kāhu in the sky to the hardworking sheepdogs, restless horses and a watchful rooster, each page captures the rhythms of rural life.

As drought grips the land, the farm waits in anticipation, until at last the rain arrives, bringing renewal and relief.

Stunning Illustrations by Ned Barraud, one of New Zealand’s top wildlife illustrators, bring the farm to life with detailed and captivating artwork. The book has authentic New Zealand farm settings, and it celebrates the farm animals and rural landscapes of Aotearoa. The book has themes of resilience and nature’s cycles, and it highlights the challenges of drought and the relief of rain, making it a relatable and educational read.
