Travellers across the globe have relied on the Lonely Planet guides to be their companion, tour guide and encyclopaedia when they visit foreign countries. Well-researched, informative and easy to use, these guides are the last word when it comes to travel.
Recently they have released three new titles, aimed at much younger travellers, aged three and up. Your little person doesn’t need to be going anywhere to enjoy these new titles, they are educational, fun and a wonderful resource for children with spare time on their hands in the school holidays.
With more than 250 stickers and activities in each book, Adventures in Famous Places, Adventures in Noisy Places, and Adventures in Smelly Places take kids on a non-stop global tour of real world locations. They speak to children’s interests, while teaching them a wide range of fascinating facts. Not surprisingly, New Zealand’s Rotorua features in Adventures in Smelly Places!
· Adventures in Famous Places
Explore the ancient pyramids of Mexico, the spectacular Takayama Festival in Japan, and the jumbo-sized Addo Elephant Park in South Africa.
· Adventures in Noisy Places
Discover the howling howler monkeys in South America, the floating Star Ferry in Hong Kong, and rockets blasting off in Russia.
· Adventures in Smelly Places
Explore the stinky stench of a bat cave in America, the eye-watering aroma of a smokehouse in Scotland, and the heady perfume of a rose oil factory in Turkey.
Beautifully illustrated throughout, each of these additions to Lonely Planet Kids’ popular Adventures in… series also features a collectable fold-out surprise.
When the review copies arrived on my home office desk, they were quickly ferreted out by my children (aged between six and 12) and their friends. They quickly became bedtime favourites with us all, because it was easy to find quick facts to read and discuss, and they loved being able to do the activities on their own.
Lonely Planet Kids aims to kick-start the travel bug and open kids' eyes and minds to the world around them. The focus is on showcasing the quirky facts, amusing tales and inspiring stories that bring our planet to life. These books promote a love of learning and travel and inspire really interesting conversation.
Also available in this series: Adventures in Busy Places, Adventures in Cold Places and Adventures in Wild Places.
