repurposeHow many ‘single purpose’ items do you have in your home? Have you ever bought something for a party (large ice bucket or punch bowl anyone?) only to store it in perpetuity in the back of a cupboard, cursing silently every time you see it?

Maybe it’s time to get creative? It may add a pop of colour to your home at the same time!

– Take a large interesting shaped vase or glass bowl and use it as an indoor pot. Plant aromatic herbs or microgreens and the centerpiece of your table can become edible!

– Use bright mugs as small pots for succulents, or cuttings. They can be moved from room to room to add a wee dash of colour.

– Use your extra stationery supplies in the bathroom. Stand up file boxes make excellent hold-alls for hair driers and straighteners, or even tall hairspray bottles. They can sit tidily in your bathroom cupboard, or on the counter, with all the cords tucked inside.

– Similarly plastic pen holders can be used for toothbrushes – many of them are vibrantly coloured, and the right height for tooth paraphernalia.

– Extra kitchen storage jars or plastic containers are wonderful for holding toys with lots of little pieces – they also stack well and make a potentially shambolic bed or playroom instantly tidier. Shallow plastic filing drawers are excellent for holding lego and small blocks – if you’re really keen, colour code each drawer. It makes finding special pieces so much easier!
