Beachcomber Island is a postcard perfect island.
Beautiful shades of ocean blues, aqua and white sand, make this an enticing island to visit on a day trip or to stay awhile.
When the tide is out, it is still easy to access the ocean to swim or snorkel.
During the day the island hums to the sound of jet skis and day trippers who arrive via boat. This makes for interesting action, from the comfort of a sun lounger on the deck of your bure.
During the late afternoon the island returns to “normal”. The island offers choice – join in and party to the music or relax and do nothing at all. Beachcomber is popular with the young and young at heart.
There are different levels of accommodation available, from dormitory to private bures. All meals are included in the accommodation cost. Drinks are extra – FJD $6.05 for a beer. Happy hour discounts run noon until 1pm and 6pm to 7pm. All meals are served buffet style. There is a small takeaway shop selling burgers, fries, ice creams and the like. A souvenir shop is stocked with sarongs, tees and essentials like toothbrushes, sun block etc.
A band plays music at lunch time and from dinner until the early hours of the morning. Favourite songs can be requested during the DJ disco segment.
Snorkelling gear is complimentary to guests staying on the island or can be hired at the Aqua Hut for around FJD $5 per person. Diving and other water sports are also available. Check prices with staff. Massages are FJD$35 for 30 minutes.
Optional tours can be booked at the tour desk and charged back to your room or bure. A popular trip is the four island hop with lunch – islands visited normally includes Musket Cove, Plantation Island and Funky Fish Island. A visit to a local Village and school is a wonderful opportunity to experience Fijian culture.
Beachcomber Island is small and only takes 10-15 minutes to walk around, which makes viewing of sunrises and sunsets an easy option.
Getting to the island is via Anchorage Resort or Port of Denerau. This takes around 30 minutes in a high speed boat.
Tips: Bring reef shoes, as coral can be uncomfortable on the feet
Camera batteries can be easily recharged, as electricity plug is compatible with New Zealand and Australia appliances
