Winter is the season for hunkering down, but Hawke’s Bay is not dormant by any means. Early season there is a crisp stillness in the air, with blue skies and shortening sunny days. With the first dustings of snow on the ranges, life outside simply carries on indoors – wood supplies are brought in, fires are lit, hearty meals prepared.
For the active soul – there are golf courses to conquer, trails to cycle, hikes to be had up Te Mata Peak or meanderings to be made along Marine Parade.
For the indulgent soul – in June there is F.A.W.C.! – the winter session of the now famous Food and Wine Classic. With a local spin on winter fare and a flurry of new vintage releases, food lovers and wine drinkers have plenty of reasons to be happy. Check out the full programme at www.fawc.co.nz. Or you could cuddle up by a roaring fireplace and indulge with a big, delicious, juicy Hawke’s Bay Syrah from one of the many wineries around Hawke’s Bay.
For the playful soul Hawke’s Bay Toyota Winter Deco Weekend is back between July 15th-17th. It promises a weekend of high teas, hot toddies, coats, hats and fur wraps as Napier swings into roaring 20s and 30s party mode for its annual winter time celebration of the city’s Art Deco architecture.
Or if you fancy heading to concerts, opera, theatre, or jazz, you are spoilt for choice, you’ll find them all here right here in Hawke’s Bay.
There are deals to be had at places to stay across Hawke’s Bay for an intimate escape or a weekend rendezvous this winter. So what more reason to do you need to hunker down in Hawke’s Bay this winter?
See you in Hawke’s Bay this winter. #Getmetohawkesbay
