Mousse Magic

mousseChocolate mousse is a culinary crowd pleaser – it is a hit with all ages, and deceptively simple to make. If you are looking for a fast and fabulous version, here it is below. It is a good idea to use good quality marshmallows (Pascalls are great) and chop them in half to speed up the melting process.

The recipe does need to be chilled for a couple of hours, so make it ahead of time today and impress your dinner guests tonight.

Note: in the very unlikely situation that you have any leftover, it is equally delicious for breakfast!

You will need:

2 cups of chopped marshmallows

100g dark chocolate

2 cups of cream

Put the chopped marshmallows and chocolate in a bowl over a pot of simmering water with one cup of cream and melt, stirring occasionally.

Remove the bowl from the heat and allow the mixture to cool to room temperature. In another bowl, whip the remaining cup of cream until soft peaks form. Fold the whipped cream into the chocolate/marshmallow mixture and spoon into individual glasses. Chill three hours or until set. Garnish with chopped nuts, marshmallows or grated chocolate.
