Do you…
- Lose your glasses? Your car keys?
- Forget names,
- Forget why you went into another room?
- Lose the word you were just going to say?
- Go to the supermarket for milk, and buy everything but?
- Have trouble remembering appointments? birthdays?
- Forget whether you turned out the light, turned out the oven?
The increased research emphasis on brain and memory health over the past decade has made it abundantly clear that we no longer need to assume memory loss is an inevitable part of the ageing process. We can take responsibility for our brain and memory in the same way as we do for so many other aspects of living and ageing well and healthily.
Dr. Yaakov Stern studied the protective nature of brain exercise. He explains that in studies following healthy elders over time and then studying their brains through autopsies, up to 20% of people with full blown Alzheimer’s brain pathology showed no significant problems in their everyday lives. He believes one of the prime reasons for this is that these people have built stronger brain connections and skills – skills so well learned they can delay the onset of dementia symptoms interfering with everyday life.
So how can we do this?
A programme designed to prevent memory loss and to gain skills we may have lost is a great way to start. Learn the tools and strategies you need to keep your memory sharp and reliable.
Are you living in Auckland, or nearby?
If you answer ‘yes’ to any of the questions above, you would benefit from Brain Fit For Life, the memory course designed to build brain and memory resilience for confidence, productivity, and quality of life in later years.
Brain Fit For Life classes are interactive, fun, and challenging. Class by class, over five fun and interactive sessions, your memory confidence will grow and you will experience the sense of being in control. No longer will you assume memory loss is an inevitable part of the ageing process.
Like physical fitness, brain fitness brings a sense of well-being and the joy of experiencing a healthy, active brain and memory.
Whether you are in the workplace, social situations, studying, or simply struggling with memory lapses, you will be amazed at the improvement in your memory and brain agility.
One of the challenges of the modern-day life is the sheer amount of information people are expected to remember, and remember instantly. Keeping mentally sharp gives an advantage in both work place and in education. Ensure you are mentally sharp and are able to recall vital information at the time you need it.
Brain Fit For Life classes are taught by Dr. Allison Lamont and Gillian Eadie. Allison is a clinician at the Auckland Memory Clinic and Gillian is a noted educator.
Not in Auckland? Or unable to attend Brain Fit For Life?
