Let’s face it. We all like to look and feel our best. New research suggests that 65% of New Zealand women believe that wearing glasses makes them look older. In fact, we Kiwi gals feel so strongly about glasses that many would rather squint (and ironically create more wrinkles!) than wear glasses.
If you are one of these, and it seems your arms just aren’t long enough anymore to hold things far enough away to see them clearly, how about trying contact lenses?
Vision care is incredibly important. Your eyes are not only the windows to your soul – if you can’t see well, your world could contract dramatically.
Kiwi women feel so strongly about glasses aging their looks that more than half would avoid wearing glasses on a first date. And nearly 68 per cent say wearing contacts in place of glasses can boost their self-esteem.
Nearly 70 per cent of women prefer to take action on grey hair, weight gain or wrinkles before addressing failing vision. This is despite 58 per cent recognising failing vision as the most serious long-term concern.
Check with your optometrist – contact lenses have evolved hugely and can now be worn by almost anyone. They are comfortable, practical and reasonably priced. As you age, your ability to focus declines, but do not assume that that means you will be stuck with thick bifocals glasses. Multifocal contact lenses offer a solution.
The beauty of thee lenses is that you will return to more functional eyesight and won’t forever be reaching to glasses to send a text, apply makeup or read.
Upon noticing a problem with their vision, more than 25 per cent of Kiwi women will wait a year or more before taking action. Be part of the smart 75 per cent. Ask your optometrist about multifocal contact lenses today!
