About Run Rabbit Christmas Countdown
A joyful new bilingual picture book just in time for Christmas!
Little Rabbit is back! With Christmas just five sleeps away, he’s counting down the days with help from his kindy teachers and his caring mum. From making decorations and cookies to singing songs and wrapping gifts, Rāpeti prepares in his own special way for the big day, culminating in a warm family celebration with his grandparents.
This eighth adorable adventure in a series of bilingual books with simple text offers an accessible introduction to basic reo Māori vocabulary for young readers and their whānau. This one counts down the five days before Christmas using cardinal numbers 1–5.
Kimberly Andrews’ signature watercolour artwork captures the warmth, cosiness and anticipation of a Kiwi Christmas—with lots of delightful Kiwiana touches. It has themes of preparation, patience, family connection, and celebration, told through a tender relationship between Rabbit and his mum.
Norah Wilson hails from Washington, D.C., and after several years teaching in Brussels,
Belgium, she moved to Aotearoa in 2011. Norah has been telling stories through her teaching and motherhood for many years, but it wasn’t until her third child was born
that she decided to write them down. Norah lives with her Kiwi husband, three kids and a dog, and teaches on Auckland’s North Shore. This is the eighth title in the Oma Rāpeti bilingual series.
Kimberly Andrews is an illustrator and author who grew up in the Canadian Rockies, before working for a while in London. Now living in NZ, Kimberly has won the Russell Clark Award for Illustration with her first book, Puffin the Architect, which was followed by Scholastic’s Ernie and the Magic Kennel, Ming’s Iceberg and the Oma Rāpeti series. Kimberly lives with husband James and two daughters in a tiny house near Wellington, where she illustrates, writes, and runs her business Tumbleweed Tees.
