About Ice

Zac is staying with his dad and stepfamily in Wanaka. In an effort to get him away from his relentless computer gaming, he is allowed to choose a rescue dog. When Zac chooses the dog with the startling ice-blue eyes, little does he know the danger and adventure that will unravel as the mystery around the tracker dog becomes a fight for survival.

Zac finds himself up against a terrifying enemy as a part-time job at an animal sanctuary exposes a horrifying enterprise.

Susan Brocker’s love of animals is evident in this gripping story involving a blended family, a mystery tracker dog and a racketeer with a ghastly agenda. Ice is set in the mountains of the beautiful South Island of New Zealand, and the book is peppered with illustrations by Minky Stapleton.

Susan Brocker has written over 50 fiction and non-fiction books for older children and teens, which have been published worldwide. She has a history degree and a love of social history that is reflected in her books. Susan also has a close affinity with animals. She lives with her husband and many pets in a lovely old villa on a small farm near Tauranga. Her previous books with Scholastic are Mrs Chippy the Cat, Friday the Rebel Dog and Bess the Brave War Horse (a picture book series based on true NZ animal tales) and a junior novel in the Kiwis at War series: 1914 Riding into War.

    2. Competition closes on the 22nd February 2022, winners will be notified via email by Thursday 24th February 2021.
    3. As a competition winner, you must confirm you have received our email notifying you of the win within three days. If we have not heard from you in three days the prize will be redrawn, and your prize will be forfeit.
    4. Winners are drawn at random by the GrownUps administration team.
    5. GrownUps employees and family are not eligible to enter.
    6. By entering the giveaway, you approve for GrownUps to use your name on social media as winner of the competition.
    7. One entry per person.
    8. You must reside in New Zealand – the prize will only be posted within New Zealand.
