This book is for anyone who is experiencing or has experienced a mental health wobble. It’s the story of someone who lives with and manages a major mental illness and who found that writing healed her and helped her process her experiences. She hopes to help others by sharing what helped her when faced with overwhelming challenges.

Her Patient Fight is also for families and friends who want to support and understand what it’s like for the person with a mental health condition and who want hope, inspiration, and insight.

Catie Nettlingham is a young woman who grew up and currently lives in Havelock North. She has a direct family of six who all love spending time at the local beach.

At eighteen she left home to study at university in the South Island. There, a long way from home, she became unwell and developed a mental illness. She left behind that new beginning and returned home and into the arms of loved ones. The following years were all about recovery.

She loves being creative, keeping close relationships with friends and family, helping others and being out in nature. Catie is currently enjoying a job supporting people with intellectual disabilities and plans to return to academic study in the future. She is passionate about writing, helping others and advocating for mental health. She believes everyone deserves to get through their hard times.

Terms and conditions

    1. You must be a GrownUps member and receive our newsletter to be eligible to win.
    2. Competition closes on the 20th September 2022, winners will be notified via email by 22nd September 2022.
    3. It is your responsibility to ensure you correctly enter a New Zealand postal address where the prize can be couriered. GrownUps will not take responsibility for prizes sent to incorrect addresses.
    4. Winners are drawn at random by the GrownUps administration team.
    5. GrownUps employees and family are not eligible to enter.
    6. By entering the giveaway, you approve for GrownUps to use your name on social media as winner of the competition.
    7. One entry per person.
    8. Prize is non transferrable.
    9. You must reside in New Zealand – the prize will only be posted within New Zealand.
