About BatKiwi and the Big Wet
The third in the popular BatKiwi series, which introduces a variety of NZ creatures and sees these two friends once again come to the rescue.
What is that blue ‘Thing’ that has turned up in BatKiwi’s forest?
“BatKiwi!” came the call. “Save us!”
Whatever the ‘Thing’ is that Kiwi and Bat found, they hoped it would go away. But it didn’t. Which was just as well, for summertime in the forest was turning into a Big Wet. Everything turned dark and gloomy and it rained and rained … and rained!
As floodwaters began to rise, the ‘Thing’ began to float and Kiwi had an idea: “Bring me everyone who needs saving,” he told Bat.
Melinda Szymanik’s clever text is as much fun for the adults reading aloud as it is for children to listen to. Isobel Joy Te Aho-White’s stunning illustrations beautifully capture the uniqueness of these NZ animals and their emotions.
