Decimal currency was introduced to New Zealand on 10 July 1967. A great deal of work was required to make the change from Imperial currency, including a huge publicity campaign. A series of advertisements on television introduced the concepts to viewers in New Zealand.
Do you remember them?

I remember that. I was in standard three and we had to do an exam.If you passed the exam, you got a certificate to say that you were a dollar scholar. I passed mine and Mum would tell people proudly for years afterwards that it was I who had taught her how to use dollars and cents. She kept my certificate in her drawer until she died.
