Mapp & Lucia
The social rivalries of a small English town and a host of unforgettable characters are brought beautifully and hilariously to life in this brilliant adaptation of author E.F. Benson’s much loved 1930s tales. This bitingly funny comic drama celebrates and lampoons the snobberies and pretensions of small-town life.
Over the course of a summer, the sly, scheming Miss Elizabeth Mapp and the gloriously haughty Mrs Emmeline ‘Lucia’ Lucas jockey for social supremacy in the charming historic town of Tilling. As Mapp and Lucia go into battle – albeit an impeccably polite one! – their fellow residents are subjected to a dizzying round of rival musical evenings, artistic one-upmanship, competitive charity events and tense afternoon teas to see where their loyalties lie. So who will triumph in this well-mannered fight to be Tilling’s finest?
Togetherness: Season 1
Prolific indie filmmakers Jay Duplass and Mark Duplass make their TV debut with the “funny, poignant” (San Francisco Chronicle) HBO comedy series Togetherness. The Blu-ray and DVD box sets both include exclusive, never-before-seen bonus content including deleted scenes and a behind-the-scenes interview with cast members Amanda Peet and Steve Zissis.
In Togetherness, Brett (Mark Duplass) is a straitlaced sound designer trying to rediscover himself while his wife Michelle (Melanie Lynskey) is eager to rekindle her passion for romance and life. Their lives are shaken up with the arrival of Michelle’s sister Tina (Amanda Peet), who comes to stay with them as she desperately tries to find a husband and get her bouncy-castle business off the ground, and Brett’s best friend Alex (Steve Zissis), who decides to give his stalled acting career one last try.
Blending laughter and pathos, Togetherness shows the tragically comedic struggle to follow personal dreams while still remaining good friends, siblings, and spouses to each other.
