Nymbl Exercise of the Week

Have you tried the Nymbl app yet?

While the app is designed mainly for those over 65, any New Zealander over 50 years can use it for FREE ! Nymbl helps you improve your balance and reduce your chance of falling. Each week we’ll bring you a new exercise to keep you motivated! To find out more about Nymbl, click here.

Week Five

This week (our final week!) our exercise of the week is side leg lifts.

Stand up tall and shift your weight into your right leg.

Lift your left leg out to the side and bring back to the centre.

Repeat this motion on the other side.

Why is this a good balance exercise? This challenges your hip more while standing on one foot.

Week Four

This week our exercise of the week is step back lunges.

Step your left leg back and bend both knees.

Hold this position.

Repeat this motion for the right side.

Why is this a good balance exercise? This improves your comfort with stepping backwards.

Week Three

This week our exercise of the week is half squats.

Put your feet hip-width apart.

Bend your knees about halfway, like you’re about to sit down into a chair.

Come back up to standing.

Repeat this motion.

Why is this a good balance exercise? This is similar to lowering yourself onto a chair.
