Why should we consider a retirement lifestyle community in our 60’s?

Many people leave the decision to buy into a retirement lifestyle village until they are forced to for health reasons or major life changes.   It is often a difficult decision and something not to be rushed into.  There are many factors to consider, such as what you may require in the future – will you be able to continue living in the community you choose and what is the ideal lifestyle you are seeking?

It may be that you have always had an affiliation with the sea and would love to be near the coast or perhaps you need a lock up and leave arrangement so you can continue to travel.   The reasons will vary for each of us but it is important to weigh up the various options that are available for the retiree today.

Hopper Living offers retirement villages with a difference, in one word ‘Lifestyle’.  Hopper have always been associated with lifestyle property including the canal developments of Pauanui Waterways, Whitianga Waterways and Marsden Cove.  The retirement communities of Maygrove Village, The Anchorage Village, Country Club Huapai and Marlin Waters have a commitment to lifestyle and meeting the needs of their residents.  They encourage people to enjoy an active retirement; the entry age for Maygrove is 55 and 65 for the remaining communities.

Maygrove Village in Orewa was established 2001 and has provided a safe, friendly and resort-like lifestyle to its residents for over 17 years. The village has an on-site care facility and a range of accommodation options for independent living.  The established grounds and gardens have a lush and tropical feel and the recently repainted main building provides a grand backdrop as you enter the gates.

Maygrove has all the facilities one needs to lead an active lifestyle, situated near the Orewa estuary walkway. You will often see residents cycling or strolling down the Te Ara Tahuna walkway.  The village has an indoor pool, spa and gym, bowling green and petanque lawn.  Only a short trip into Orewa will see you enjoying the beautiful Orewa beach and sipping on a coffee in the many cafes along the beachfront.

Lifestyle is not limited to the physical activities we can enjoy but also the social connections we are part of.  A sense of belonging and sharing with others is important.  The Maygrove village residents embrace this and enjoy happy hour together, art meetings and sharing thoughts and skills in a variety of activities.  It is normal to see neighbours relaxing at each other homes and enjoying spending time together.

Buying into a retirement community and making the move to a smaller villa or apartment is a big decision but we have found many residents wish they had made the move earlier.  Residents Allan and Carol say, “Moving here was the best decision that we could have made together”.

There are a limited number of apartments and villas available so don’t miss out on the opportunity to enjoy the Hopper Living lifestyle
