World Smile Day

Today is World Smile Day – so  get your grin out!  The idea of World Smile Day was initiated by Harvey Ball, a commercial artist credited with creating the Smiley Face in 1963. He was asked to design a ‘happy face’ to raise the morale of the employees in the company where he worked.

The design is simple, and there are many similar versions, but his is the most recognised.

After Harvey died in 2001, the “Harvey Ball World Smile Foundation” was created to honour his name and memory. The slogan of the Smile Foundation is “improving this world, one smile at a time.”

The message of the World Smile Day is “Do an act of kindness. Help one person smile.”

Here’s a video to give you some inspiration from kindness.org – let’s spread some goodness today!
