Recently turmeric has seen a resurgence in popularity, although it has long been prized for its amazing anti-inflammatory benefits. While turmeric might not be to everyones taste, this creamy latte makes it quite delicious! Most importantly, the addition of ginger and coconut oil improves the bioavailability of turmeric’s health properties.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk
- 1-2 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp organic cinnamon powder
- A dash of vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ginger powder
- ¼ tsp ground organic cardamom (optional)
- ½ – 1 tbsp extra-virgin organic coconut oil
- Honey to taste
- Pinch of organic black pepper
Method
Add two parts turmeric with 1 part boiling water and mix well. If you’re new to the taste of turmeric, start with one teaspoon and build up.
Gently warm the coconut milk in a small saucepan, taking care that it doesn’t boil.
Add the turmeric paste, ginger, vanilla, cinnamon and ground cardamom.
Combine the coconut oil with the mixture and gently heat together until melted.
Use a wire whisk or stick blender to create a foam. Continue to stir until frothy and heated through.
Stir in honey or stevia.
Pour into a glass or mug and sprinkle with more cinnamon (or ground cardamom).
Serve!
