What’s better than a good homemade beef burger grilled to perfection? How about these beef basil burgers for an Italian twist to the Kiwi classic!
- 1⁄2 cup basil leaves, loosely packed, minced
- 1⁄4 cup red onion, minced
- 1⁄4 cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
- 1⁄4 cup dry red wine
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons garlic salt
- 900g beef mince
- 8 slices cheese
- 2 tomatoes sliced
- lettuce leaves
- 8 hamburger buns, split
Method
Add the first six ingredients and season with salt and pepper. Mix together with your hands (it’s easier than with a spoon!) to form into eight patties, then put in the fridge for at least 45 minutes.
Grill on a hot BBQ or oven until perfect then serve with cheese, sliced tomatoes and lettuce for crunch.
