I was driving down I-10 headed to Mississippi from Louisiana, going about 80 in a 70. There was a state trooper behind a sign
He lit me up as I flew by, so I pulled over. He slowly gets out of his vehicle, puts on his wide-brimmed hat and walks over.
As I looked up at him, his mirrored sunglasses showed nothing but my own face, and he was chewing on a matchstick as he drawled.
“Boy, I been waiting for you all day.”
To which I replied, “Officer, I got here as fast as I could!”
There was about 10 seconds that felt like an hour before he slowly grinned and said.. “Slow down and get the hell out of here”
