Mr Brown had wanted a parrot ever since he was a little boy and decided he’d take advantage of this opportunity.
Unfortunately, as the shop keeper explained, they were unable to sell the bird.
Somehow it had learnt some very foul language and would repeat it in front of any prospective buyers.
Disgusted, many parents with young children had decided against buying the parrot.
Mr Brown thought about it very carefully and decided he didn’t mind if the bird swore every now and then, so happily brought it home with him.
Mrs Brown was less impressed.
She tried taking away the bird’s food if it swore, she tried spraying it with a water bottle and she even tried covering the cage with a blanket.
But nothing worked.
One day, at her wit’s end, she decided to put the parrot in the freezer to shock some sense into it.
She heard a few muffled curses then finally silence fell.
“Please let me out and I will behave,” the parrot said.
Mrs Brown breathed a sigh of relief, and let the bird out, “Let that be a lesson to you!”
The parrot said meekly, “Yes Mrs Brown. But what did the chicken do?!”
