A firetruck drives past a school playground, and the children are delighted to see it pass.
Johnny notices a dog in the front seat of the firetruck and asks his teacher, “Why do the firemen have a dog, Miss Parker?”
Miss Parker decides to let the children guess. “Why do you think, Johnny?”
Johnny guesses, “For company? Maybe the firemen like petting the dog while they drive around.”
Sally disagrees, “It must be a guard dog, making sure that nobody tries to steal the firetruck.”
But clever Bobby has a different idea, “You’re all wrong, it’s to help them find the fire hydrants!”
