Boozy DIY skincare

I enjoy a glass of wine after a long day and I enjoy a little bit of pampering. So why not mix the two?  These three skin care recipes will leave you glowing and feeling properly pampered.

Wrinkle-Smoothing Wine Facial

Primarily found in red wine and to a lesser extent white wine, resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant which can help to repair the damage caused by sun exposure that leads to wrinkles and sagging.  The kaolin clay draws out impurities, while the oil moisturises and hydrates and the oat flour gently exfoliates.

What you need:

Method: Combine all the ingredients. Apply to the face, neck, and décolletage. Rinse with warm water after 10 minutes.

Brightening Beer Facial

In ancient Egypt women of the upper classes used beer for all sorts of cosmetic and therapeutic purposes, such as to freshen the skin and reduce the risk of skin conditions. Beer contains B vitamins, hops, and yeast, which help dissolve dead cells and increase the skin’s luminosity. When mixed with egg white, the yeast in the beer creates a filmy mask that hydrates and improves the elasticity of the skin. The addition of lemon which is a source of vitamin C, helps to clear pores and fade brown spots.

Ingredients:

Method: Combine the egg white and beer with the lime juice. Slather onto the face. After 10 minutes, rinse with warm water.

Vodka Toner

Toner typically has a lot of alcohol in it so why not cut out the middleman? Vodka can bring the lost radiance to your face. The clean up is essential for removal the of makeup and to make way for the cells to breathe. The more the skin breathes the easier it is for it to repair itself. The alcohol tightens the skin and the green tea’s catechins soothe it.

Brew a cup of green tea, let it call then add the vodka. Soak a cotton ball in and cleanse your face.
