A trip abroad for most kids is a big adventure.
Here are a few hints to help make the trip fun for all of you….
- Make the most of this adventure and start the build up a few weeks early. Get a special calendar- better yet get the kids to make one so they can mark off the sleeps.
- When flying with small children, the best seats to reserve are at the bulkhead. That′s the first row of seats in the plane (in economy). You will be facing a wall, however, there is more legroom here and most airlines will provide a basinet that hooks on to the wall. If you have flight time options choose night flights. The children are more likely to fall asleep.
- Children′s ears sometimes hurt on landing. To remedy this hand out some chewing gum as the plane starts its decent. (Not suitable for Singapore where gum is illegal).
- If you are staying in one place for any length of time with children, consider renting your own apartment with a kitchen and laundry. You will be able to cook snacks when you like, cook food you know the children will eat, and pack lunches for the following day. A laundry means you are able to travel with less clothing and makes cleaning chocolate icecream from white t-shirts less of a problem!
