Podcasts can be addictive and finding good ones can be like finding a goldmine. Podcasts are an audio show, found in digital form on the internet and can be downloaded onto your computer or mobile device. A great variety of podcasts can be found online and they range in quality with some having been recorded at home and others within a studio.

Great podcasts you must listen to

 

  1. Lux Radio Theatre: This is a classic radio anthology series which was broadcast between 1934 and 1935 and is a series of adapted Broadway plays and films.
  2. Making Oprah: This tells the behind-the-scenes story of Oprah Winfrey – an iconic TV talk show star. This is a podcast you must listen to if you love the media star and are interested in her rise to fame.
  3. Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History: Carlin is a former journalist, talk radio show host and amateur historian. These podcasts are non-fiction historic stories that are not for the faint-hearted.
  4. The Memory Palace: These are short stories by American Nate DiMeo. This podcast features audio pieces inspired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
  5. Radiolab: This is a show about curiosity. Each episode is an audio documentary where science meets storytelling.
  6. Gastropod: This podcast looks at food through the lens of science and history.
  7. Conversations with Richard Fidler: The podcast draws you deeper into the life story of a range of people- musicians, artists, politicians and everyone in between.
  8. Healthy or Hoax: These podcasts are hosted by Carol Hirschfeld and look into food, fitness and leisure fads to figure out what works and what doesn’t.
  9. How I Built This: This is a podcast about innovators, entrepreneurs, and idealists and the stories behind the movements they built.
  10. New Zealand History: A range of New Zealand history podcasts that are free to download covering a range of topics including the history of tramping in New Zealand.

There is an abundance of podcasts you must listen to online and they share an array of subject matter from history, food, fashion and crime. Kind of like nonfiction stories, they are a convenient way of listening to interesting content where and when you want!
