Why do we put candles on top of a birthday cake?
As it turns out, putting candles on birthday cakes is a tradition that has been around for a long, long time. It can be traced back to the Ancient Greeks, who often burned candles as offerings to their many gods and goddesses.
When was the wireless phone invented?
A jazz musician named Teri Pall invented a version of the cordless phone in 1965 but could not market her invention, as its 3.2 km range caused its radio signals to interfere with aircraft communications. In 1968, she sold her rights to the cordless phone to a manufacturer who modified it for practical use.
Are cobras deaf?
The cobra is deaf to the snake charmer’s pipe but follows the visual cue of the moving pipe and it can sense the ground vibrations from the snake charmer’s tapping.
Do octopus squirt ink?
Most octopuses can eject a thick, blackish ink in a large cloud to aid in escaping from predators. The main colouring agent of the ink is melanin, which is the same chemical that gives humans their hair and skin colour.
