In 2018 Chamber Music New Zealand presents a year-long festival of music. Think of this as a festival in slow motion – illustrious artists, beautiful programmes and a variety of genre and style that will keep you on your toes.
Our Seasons are a celebration of intimate live music featuring everything from early music to the contemporary, classical to jazz. The 2018 programme features an extraordinary range, bringing together the world’s best artists up close and at home in Aotearoa.
Prepare to be swept off your feet with the explosive Anderson & Roe piano duo, witness literature & music coming together with Alex Ross, immerse yourself in Russian mastery with the Borodin Quartet and be moved by Piers Lane, Hiroshi Ikematsu, and members of the NZSQ’s performance of all-time favourite, Schubert’s Trout Quintet.
It all begins in March with a 10-centre tour by dynamic American piano duo Greg Anderson and Elizabeth Joy Roe with a programme that will explore the explosive energy of two pianos, as well as the rich intimacy of four hands on a single keyboard. Expect a fusion between classical repertoire and pop music: original re-arrangements of Bernstein, The Beatles, Gluck, John Adams, Stravinsky and Leonard Cohen all feature in an exquisite balance.
Chamber Music New Zealand Chief Executive, Peter Walls, said this tour, presented in association with the New Zealand Festival and Auckland Arts Festival will “ignore stylistic boundaries. These two virtuoso pianists have been playing together since they were students at The Juilliard School. They project the meaning of what they play in witty and engaging ways.”
Anderson & Roe tickets are now on sale – grab yours before it’s too late! If you are interested in more than one concert, think about signing up to a Season Subscription; they come with many perks to help you make the most of a year of great music up-close. Senior discounts and family passes are also available.
